  KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

The gigantic 20,000sq km Kruger National Park stretches from the Crocodile River in Mpumalanga Province in the East of South Afirca, all the way to the Limpopo River in the Northern Province.  In 1926 The Kruger National Park was the first national park to be proclaimed in South Africa.  It was named after President Paul Kruger who was a great campaigner for the creation of such a reserve.  The Big Five, a variety of birds and countless animals are among some of the attractions in this wildlife reserve.  Accommodation is offered in comfortable rest camps with many facilities, such as curio shops, restaurants, camping sites and swimming pools.

Situated on the Western borders of the Kruger National Park are the Sabi Sand and Timbavati Private Game Reserves.   These reserves were formed in the 1950's and comprise numerous private game farms covering an area of over 100 000 ha of bushveld.  There are no game fences between the Kruger Park and these Private Reserves which means that the animals are free to roam where they choose.    Many Private Camps and luxurious Safari Lodges are situated in these Reserves, which offer fully catered luxury and rustic accommodation as well as open Landrover Safari drives twice a day.    Bush walks with armed rangers and trackers are also available at most of the lodges and there are over 300 species of birds in addition to an abundance of game both big and small.
